Yes. Our policies do cover pre-existing conditions but only those for which you have not received treatment, medication or advice on for a period of 12 months before you take out the policy.
We would advise any journalist or media professional travelling to another country to take out a policy. Typical claims can also include situations such as a road traffic accidents or food poisoning, which are not limited to active conflict zones or hostile regions.

You can buy a policy which will provide you with cover 24/7 for the number of weeks purchased, including while at work or at leisure. The insurance cover is restricted to countries within the Zone you selected and lower risk zones. Once you have bought cover in a Zone you are automatically covered in all the other countries in that Zone and lower risk Zones without additional cost. For example, if you selected the Extreme zone then you will be covered in all the countries in that Zone PLUS in all the lower risk zones being High, Medium and Low.

No, it's a personal accident insurance policy which includes insurance against accidental death plus sickness and accident medical expenses. There is no cover for sickness and accident medical expenses in your home country. All sickness and accident claims are subject to a $250 deductible per claim. The amount of the claim is limited to the sum insured selected when you applied for the policy.
Yes. You can purchase a policy for any period of time from one week up to 52 weeks.
The cover is for 24 hours in the policy day, when you are working and at rest, in two sections:
Section One: Accidental death and disablement

This policy is designed for journalists and any member of the media heading out on an assignment with reduced cover in their own country. A policy can be bought by an individual or by a media organisation who wants to insure an individual they have engaged in some way.
Percentage figures represent the percentage of the accidental death sum insured that is payable for different types of disablement:
1. Accidental Death – 100%
2. Total and irrecoverable loss of sight of both eyes – 100%
3. Total and irrecoverable loss of sight of one eye – 50%
4. Loss of two limbs – 50%
5. Loss of one limb – 50%
6. Permanent Total Disablement (other than total and irrecoverable loss of sight of one or both eyes or loss of limb(s) from accident or illness) – 100%
If an insured person has a successful disablement claim and receives 50% of the sum insured, then as a direct result of the same incident they die within 12 months of that incident, then the balance of the claim is payable. No claim in section one can be more than the accidental death sum insured. We include cover in conflict / war zones, including travelling in a military vehicle as a passenger without additional premium.
